TARE

TARE is an arcade-style game where your goal is to score as many points as possible by balancing out a scale. Tying in this year's theme, you will place procedurally generated blocks of various weights to build on and "tare" the scale. When the scale is balanced, you can clear all of the blocks built on the scale to score points. However, you will lose points if a block falls off the scale. If too many blocks are dropped off the scale...it's game over!

DISCLAIMER

This game was made in only 36 hours as that is all the time we had to work on it during the jam. We had so much more that we wanted to add to this game and recognize it's in a pretty crude state. The next thing that we would have loved to add is more features in the gameplay to make it harder to build the blocks on the scale, like bombs or flying obstacles. If you do end up playing our game, thank you very much, we wish we could have brought you a more finalized product!

HOW TO PLAY

Blocks will spawn one after another constantly throughout the game. Your job is to build them up efficiently enough so that minimal blocks fall off the scale. You have a health bar at the top of the screen that will be damaged if a block falls past the bottom of the screen. Once your health drops to zero, you lose! Survive as long as possible and score as many points as you can!

You gain points exponentially depending on how many blocks are built on the scale. For example, if you balance the scale with just 2 blocks, you get 1 point, but if you balance the scale with 20 blocks, you get 160 points. The longer you hold out and stack the blocks, the more points you get.

CONTROLS

  • Pan Mouse Left/Right - Move where the block will be placed
  • Left Click - Drop the currently controlled block and spawn a new one
  • A/Left Arrow - Rotate the block counter-clockwise
  • D/Right Arrow - Rotate the block clockwise
  • Space - Clear all blocks that are balanced on the scale only when the scale is level
